My New eBook

Holy crap! Every once and awhile I have a personal project that just seems to take forever and the process of creating this latest ebook has felt like an eternity. I’ve never worked so hard on a writing project and I’ve never before put so much gut-wrenching, soul-searching effort into a project whose only boss was myself. It’s been over a year in the making and Your Creative Mix is final done! I’m exhausted.
Trust me on this one: it’s BIG! Over 17,000 words and it’s packed with spotlights and features on creative people and inspired photographers. It’s full of rants, sermons, examples, and insights that I’ve collected over the years. This is a massive ebook that will get surely get people’s attention (I hope). It feels a little like my coming out party actually. With all the homework I’ve done, countless client projects I’ve handled, launching Clamorate with a new business partner, and hosting the conference these past two years, I feel like I’ve found my groove. I’m living the dream for sure
Now, to say that I’m excited is an understatement. To say that I’m nervous doesn’t even come close to how I’m feeling about this upcoming ebook launch. I’m freaked to tell you the truth.
The short story is: I’ve become very discouraged with the lack of originality and creativity I see among vocational photographers. I hear the same complaints and I see the same answers flying around and few seem to get it. Everyone is trying to copy someone else or employ the same tips-n-tricks hoping for different results. Insane I tell you! Growing a creative business is hard but it’s impossible unless you’re striving to fulfill your creative potential. Instead of scrambling to make yet another desperate marketing maneuver, I feel that photographers would be better served by diligently exploring their artistic resources and simply focus on being generous with their ideas and passions. Generating demand for one’s creative work should be hard work, and the source of that manual labour is found in creating and sharing – NOT in push-marketing.
Yes – this eBook is tailored to the visionmonger but it’s a great read for anyone hanging it in the wind as a creative entrepreneur. At least I think so.
This post isn’t so much an advertisement as it is a heads-up and a THANK YOU! Craft & Vision released the eBook to its affiliates because it goes on sale next week (the usual $4 starting price). I didn’t want to start any real buzz-building activities until I paid homage to those that have helped make this eBook happen. It’s been a collaborative project from start to finish, both in the concepts it presents and in its creation. Thank you to those who share my passion for the pursuit of creativity and community:
